Anyone wanting my thoughts on Caedmon's Call will have to ask me in person. I'm not willing to put those out for the world to read, because I like some of the guys (and girl) involved with them. Anyway, ask if you want to know.

I think part of my addiction comes from really enjoying the live concerts of some artists, buying their CDs and then being disappointed with how overproduced or poorly produced they are (particularly in the Christian recording industry). So concerts get me back to that simple, acoustic performance I fell in love with.

Also, when you're trying to figure out how to play a song with say an intricate picking pattern or several layered guitar parts the best way to hear the part clearly is to get a concert recording and listen to how they perform it live. So it's helped with transcribing songs from scratch for myself.

In terms of collecting concerts, however, it can become more of a pat rack mentality. They're free, so might as well get whatever looks good, I might listen to it someday, even if I've never listened to that band before today. So there is a danger of becoming obssesive, but I say--Fight the Rat! <-- Hey, there's a title for an album, now all I need is a band name. Sean's good with those. Any ideas dude?
