Word Count
Can anyone explain to me why Word gives me a word count of about 100 words less than Google Docs?
And who’s right? Hmm? I’m not going to sit down and count my 8044/8133-word document by hand.

Perhaps because Word is remembering words previously deleted that you might want to undo.
Just a guess…

This is why I’ll stick to counting via Google Docs!

Just a note for the official NaNo word-counter: You probably want to use Word because the NaNo counter already has a tendency to short you a few words (we had someone who claimed to be shorted as many as five-hundred words one year). My best suggestion is just to write a thousand over to be safe, but if you can’t swing that, keep to Word’s counter to be sure you’re within the NaNo parameters. Google clearly isn’t interested in marathon novel-writing :-)
