Omaha’s Culture Club

I’ve never been to Omaha, or indeed to most of the midwestern US, but I found this article in the Times today about cultural revival in Omaha fascinating. Bonus: it’s writen by Kurt Andersen who, among other things, hosts one of my favorite podcasts.

    Hey, Alissa,
You won’t believe it, but I just pulled in from taking the Cor-ster to Omaha! LOL
I had not read any of this before about Omaha-we tend to dislike it out here. Mainly because it comes across as a mass of urbanistic shopping centers, and nearly nothing original.
Hmmmm…the article posted here makes me want to take a closer look at something other than the latest Costco, Sam’s Club, or Whole Foods they have put in there….:)

Omaha??! WOw? The mid-west is not too bad. Best cities being Chicago and Indianapolis and Kansas City. But having Omaha is surprise though….
