About

We got married on September 5, 2006 and live in lovely Fort Greene, Brooklyn.

Tom was born in Illinois, grew up in northwestern New Jersey, and has a B.A. in film from Emerson College, which he earned in 2004. Since graduation, he’s lived more or less in New York City and worked in the hectic New York film scene. He plans to direct movies someday (and Alissa’s convinced he will be brilliant and that you should fund his work). Between film projects, he’s a portrait and fine art photographer. He doesn’t blog much, because he’s a busy guy, but he is glad you’re reading.

Alissa was born and raised in the Albany, New York area. She has a B.S. in information technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and moved to New York in 2005. She now works as an editor, writes about film, books, and culture for a number of publications, and is an NYU graduate student. She spends any available free time running to press screenings, reading good novels and books on theology and culture, and being domestic.

We spend a lot of time watching a lot of films that nobody else has seen, hosting and feeding our friends and their friends and sometimes even their friends, enthusing about great books to anyone who will listen, supporting our artist friends by attending their plays/concerts/shows/openings, grappling with what it looks like to be urban, creative, ambitious, thinking Christians, and basically wreaking havoc upon New York City.

Tom’s blog was formerly at canaanbound.blogspot.com; Alissa’s was at alissaclark.com.
